Should Flyers be Banned?
Regarding to the statement above, it made me sit and really think hard to the answer. Giving out flyers is one of the ways for marketers to advertise their products and services. That is really the main objective of flyers. However, is it really effective?

Giving out flyers provide jobs for some people. Those who give out flyers will be paid by the company itself. For example, if we go to any MRT station or bus interchange, we can see a couple of people giving out flyers near the escalators. Well, i rarely take those flyers as i will ended up throwing it into the bin. So, as not to waste any papers, i decided not to take it. :D
But depends on who giving it out. Sometimes if i see that the person giving out the flyers was an old man or woman, i'll definitely take it as i know that they're doing it for a living. Hehehehe. And like i said, the flyers will end up in the bin.

Lets get back to the topic. Should it be banned? I agree if it. Somehow, like i said, giving out flyers is not really effective as not only me, but majority of the people in S'pore will end up throwing it into the bin, or worse, litter. If you walk around the interchange or near the MRT station, you can see that there are flyers everywhere lying on the ground. Isn't S'pore is one of the cleanest country? So why do we litter? Flyers are somehow useful to some consumers, and also it provide jobs for some people. So, if you know that you going to litter, i suggest that you don't grap those flyers!

Thus, to conclude everything, my opinion is not to banned flyers. :)

Are flyers like chewing gum? (should they be banned?)

Don’t you think that flyers are like chewing gums? Chewing gums in the past are found to be sticking everywhere such as MRT seats, tables and etc. Flyers, instead of sticking everywhere, it flies everywhere such as we see flyers everywhere at HDB flats, letter boxes and people giving it out at shopping malls.. Both are also litters and are not environmentally friendly. Now, chewing gums are banned, should flyers be banned as well?

I think that flyers should not be banned as it is the cheapest and one of the ways for small business to promote their product and services. Flyers are even better when businesses are tight on budget. If flyers are really banned, the unemployment rate will increase as flyers distributors will lose their jobs since most people who are not so well educated are employed to give out flyers. It will also cause business to suffer as flyers are a kind of free way to promote and without flyers, they have to spend a lot of money to advertise through advertisement which can cost millions of dollars.

However, I think that people who receive the flyers, should not throw them everywhere on the floor. If they really want to dispose it, they should throw it properly into a bin. Flyers distributors should also not paste the flyers anywhere in the lifts and walls etc, but instead, flyers should be pasted properly on notice boards.

Any glory for Singapore championship in table tennis/ Foreign talent

Singapore won the Moscow championship for the World Team Table Tennis Championships for the very first time! However, not all people see this as a glory due to the representatives for Singapore. It was China players instead of Singapore players.
From my point of view, I feel both glory and not glory.

Glory as even though the table tennis team is made up of China players, as long as they play the game truthfully right from the bottom of their heart, winning or losing will still be our glory and we should acknowledge it.
After all, they have done their part for a country which they do not belong and the worst thing is that they are competing against their own country. Without them helping us to win, I am not sure whether we will even get to win a not. We should also not really criticize them as it is actually also the same for Singaporeans. Nowadays, many Singaporeans are also going abroad for further work, education, help in their competition and also to gain citizenship there. When Singaporeans do this, I am sure we will also want to be treated equally, be regarded as their people even though we are foreign talent in their countries. So why make it hard for them to live when they had to leave their own country and try their very best to play for Singapore and not to say that it is our country who invited them to play for us. Put yourselves into their shoes, can you imagine their feelings of taking Singapore flag in their own country?

Not glory as there is a feeling that if it was not for foreign talents, Singapore would not have been able to win any championship at all by Singapore born athletes. Since the players that win for Singapore are from China, the title somehow does not feel like it belongs to Singapore, instead it feels like it belonged to China. It also does feel like Singapore does not have any high expectations for Singapore teams and is depending on foreign talent.

In conclusion, I still think that it is somehow glory and somehow not, depending how people thinks. If we think it is glory, we should support foreign talents and give them our fullest support. If we think that it is not glory, Singaporeans should train hard on their sports so that they can get selected to play for the teams!

Foreign Talent in S'pore
CONGRATULATION to S’pore table tennis team for winning the Championship at Moscow! They didn’t fail to make S’pore proud by bringing back home medals for most of the competitions that they participated. However, some S'poreans do not see the glory in it. To them, the table tennis team are not S'porean, hence they do not deserve the support.

I totally disagree with those people. The table tennis team deserve all our support as they're representing our country. Even though they're originally from China. I am pleased to see them wearing the jersey proudly with our country's logo on it. It is very unfair for them as they had trained very hard to win for S'pore but they do not get the full support from the public.

In my opinion, majority of S'poreans disapprove with foreign talent. In their view, S'pore focus to much in attracting foreign talent into the country that the locals are neglected. With more foreign talent in S'pore, the locals find it very difficult for them to find jobs or even getting into the S'pore sports team.

Etiquette lesson in school for teens?

Do teens need etiquette lesson in school? Personally i do not think that teens need any etiquette lesson in schools. The lessons will not help them in their behavior if they have no wish to change their behavior. Apparently even students with rich backgrounds which parents have good etiquette might not behave the same way as their parents even if they were bought up that way.

It might be true that teens are getting less polite these days, but most teens actually knows what they are doing is rude and ill-mannered. They carried on with their actions mainly because of they wanted to follow their friends actions or to "act cool".
Teens always think that acting like a gangster make them cool and more popular. And often gangsters have little social etiquette therefore this is a reason why teens are not behaving properly.

Yes, parents do play a part in building the social etiquette of their children when they are young and correcting them when they are not behaving properly in public. But most importantly for the teens to have the right behavior is their own mind set. If the teens minds how others look at them and think about them, they would definitely want to behave properly and decently to give others a right impression. And if the teens do not care about how others look at them they would just do what they wish and this will end up like what the teens in the photo of Stomp are doing, putting their feet on the seats.

In conclusion, teens do not need to have etiquette lessons in school as the most important factor for having a right behavior is their own mindset as they are definitely mature enough to determine the right behavior in public and how they are suppose to portray themselves.

Are Teenagers In Need For Etiquette Lessons In School?
Why must everything that we learn in life have to be taught in school? That is not necessary. When it comes to manners and behaviours of teenagers, it all starts from the parents. When they were still a toddler, they were taught on how to speak, eat and walk by their own parents. Is they any teachers involve here? Definitely no. Thus, parents play a big part in ensuring that their children have the right manners and know what's right and what's wrong.

The video that we had seen, regarding the two teenagers who put their feet on the seats, shows how inconsiderate teenagers nowadays. Even if they wanted to sit, they should at least sit in a proper manner and offer the other seats to those who need it more, for example the elderly and pregnant women. This is only one of the inconsideration things that teenagers do in public.

There is no need for teenagers to go for etiquette lessons in school, or even from their parents. Teenagers are old and mature enough to know what's right and what's wrong. Whatever they do in public may just be an entertainment for them but they may not realised that their doings are a disgrace to the public.
