Facebook being banned in Pakistan

Facebook is a popular social networking website nowadays after the use of Friendster in the past. Many people in every country is using it to make new friends and to socialize. However, after reading the news of facebook being banned in Pakistan by blocking the URL link and issued instruction to internet service providers due to the “Draw Mohammad Day” event images, I think that users of facebook should have a limit on knowing what to post and what to not post.
Even though it might just be a small event or comedy of drawing Mohammad images and might looks interesting for us, did you spare a thought for the other Muslims in the country? By drawing and making fun of their religious head, you are also doing the same thing as insulting, humiliating and showing disrespect to the religion, Muslim. Do what you don’t want others to do to you. I am sure that none of you wish to see your own religion being created for an event like this too? Imagine if Christians, Buddhism and Taoism have such events, there will be no peace in the country and many people will start striking. It goes for the same for racist not only just religion. However, if Pakistan just warns and ban facebook for a period only for this event, it is acceptable.
Facebook are used by people to make new friends, see people profiles and status, send messages etc. It can also even help to keep in touch with your old and new friends by creating events in facebook and invite others to join in the fun. I am sure there are many events that are successful. They also used it as a petition, if you like Korean Pop, you will notice the recent news on the petition of “We want Beast in Singapore” event. It also serves as an entertainment like now it attracts many people with their applications and games, when people play the farm game, they are scared that their crops are being stole that they can wake up early in the morning for to check their facebook for the sake of it. My favourite part of facebook is to press the ‘like’ button for things that describe my thoughts. (:
However, facebook should not be use to post serious things such as political or religious purposes as they are sensitive issues and might offend people. It is also a distraction for people studying as many people like to check their facebook for friends updates and we cannot resist the temptation of doing so in tutorials when we have our laptops with us!
